Finally. The thing so many people have waited years for has happened. Apple just launched the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, the first MacBook with a tandem OLED screen and, for the first time ever, a Mac you can touch.
It comes in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, with the M5 Pro or M5 Max chip. Malaysian pricing starts at RM11,999, and it arrives to customers from Friday, 6 November 2026.

PROLED XDR: the first tandem OLED on a MacBook
This is the star of the show. PROLED XDR uses tandem OLED, which means two layers of self-illuminating pixels. According to Apple, there's no more blooming or halos like on the previous mini-LED screens.
- Brightness: up to 2000 nits, for both HDR and SDR
- Contrast: 10,000,000:1
- ProMotion: 120Hz, dropping as low as 10Hz to save battery
- Color: P3 and Adobe RGB in one preset, over 80% Rec. 2020 coverage
- Sizes: 14.2 inches and 16.3 inches (measured diagonally)
- Nano-texture glass: an optional upgrade to cut reflections and glare
If you do color work, there are reference modes for cinema, photo, print and design, and you can calibrate it yourself. Video creators also get Genlock to sync the display's refresh with a camera (compatible third-party hardware and software required).

Touch: a Mac you can finally touch
The touch sensor is built right into the display panel instead of layered on top, so latency is lower. You can scroll, pinch to zoom, drag and drop, double-tap to fill the screen and flick to tile windows.
Apple also redesigned the hinge so the display stays steady when you touch it. On video calls, video stabilization keeps the camera feed from shaking while you tap the screen.

Apps that already support Touch include Notion, Canva, Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Lightroom, DaVinci Resolve, Blender and Cinema 4D. Final Cut Pro uses Touch for marking ranges and placing clips, Logic Pro gets a Multi-Touch keyboard, and Pixelmator Pro lets you edit directly on the canvas.

Dynamic Island comes to the Mac
Yes, the iPhone's Dynamic Island is now on the MacBook Pro. It's the home for Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI. You can search, take calls, control music and accept AirDrop requests right from there.

Thinner and lighter
- 14-inch: 3 lb (about 1.36 kg), half a pound lighter and nearly 0.5 mm thinner
- 16-inch: 4 lb (about 1.81 kg), 0.7 lb lighter and nearly 1 mm thinner
One more thing fans have been waiting for: the illuminated Apple logo on the back of the display is back, for the first time since the 2016 MacBook Pro redesign.
The display borders are slimmer too. The thermal system was redesigned for sustained M5 Pro and M5 Max performance, directing warm air away from the display.

M5 Pro and M5 Max chips
Apple calls these its most powerful chips ever built for a pro laptop. Unified memory goes up to 128GB and storage up to 16TB. Every GPU core has a Neural Accelerator, plus a third-generation ray-tracing engine.
- M5 Pro: for compiling code, AI tasks and editing multiple 8K ProRes streams
- M5 Max: for 3D VFX, AI development and 8K post-production. According to Apple, it can run LLMs with hundreds of billions of parameters right on the laptop

Battery, audio, camera and ports
- Battery: up to 24 hours (Apple testing), fast charge to 50% in about 30 minutes
- Audio: six speakers with new woofers, 50% deeper bass, Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos
- Camera: 12MP Center Stage
- Ports: three Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, SDXC slot, MagSafe and headphone jack
- External displays: up to three with M5 Pro, up to four with M5 Max
- Wireless: Apple N1 chip, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6

I'm personally dying to see this tandem OLED screen in person. Are you team lightweight 14-inch or team big-screen 16-inch? 馃槃
