CMF Speaker S and Speaker M: CMF's First Speakers With IP68 and Up to 18 Hours of Battery

Ever noticed that CMF has earbuds and watches, but never a speaker? Well, that just changed. CMF, Nothing's sub-brand, launched its first Bluetooth speakers on 12 October 2026: the compact CMF Speaker S and the bigger CMF Speaker M.

They look like colourful milk cartons, and you can even swap the front panels. I also got to hold both of them: the Speaker S in Dark Grey and the Speaker M in white. Is this your vibe? Let me break it down.

A milk carton design you can customise

The first thing that got me was the look. A lot of tech media call it a milk carton or juice box design, and honestly, they're right. There are four colours: White, Dark Grey, Orange and Turquoise, the same for both S and M.

The fun part is that the front panel and knob can be removed and swapped. CMF even released official 3D design files, so if you own a 3D printer, you can print your own parts. Pretty cool if you like customising your gear.

The Speaker S has a hook point for a carabiner, so you can clip it to a bag strap. The Speaker M has a built-in carry handle, handy for picnics or hangouts.

What are they like in hand?

Seeing them in person really shows the size difference. The Speaker S fits in your palm, at just 130.5mm tall. The Speaker M is taller at 220mm, with a handle that makes it easy to carry.

My favourite detail is the knob. It looks like an old radio switch in a contrasting colour, and it's adorable. The top panel follows the milk carton shape all the way.

Speaker S vs Speaker M, what's the difference?

Both share the same features, but size and power differ. Here are the official specs from Nothing's site:

CMF Speaker S

  • One 45mm full-range driver + two passive radiators
  • 10W RMS output, 70Hz to 20kHz frequency response
  • 2,600mAh battery, full charge in 2.5 hours
  • 130.5 x 85 x 44mm, weighs 334g

CMF Speaker M

  • 70mm woofer (25W RMS) + 16mm tweeter (10W RMS)
  • 35W RMS total output, 60Hz to 20kHz frequency response
  • 4,900mAh battery, full charge in 3 hours
  • 220 x 85 x 54mm, weighs 602g

If you want something small for your room or to hang off your bag, the Speaker S is enough. If you want a fuller sound for group hangouts, the Speaker M with its two-driver system makes more sense.

IP68 and up to 18 hours of battery

This is one of the biggest highlights. Both models are rated IP68 for dust and water, which is rare for speakers at this price. Beach or poolside, no big worries.

Battery life goes up to 18 hours on both models. Just remember, CMF measured that at 50% volume with AAC and Ultra Bass on, so blasting it loud will cut that down. For fast charging, 10 minutes gets you about 1 hour of playback, but you need a 5V/3A or stronger adapter.

Bluetooth 6.0, Stereo Mode and Party Mode

Connectivity is pretty modern:

  • Bluetooth 6.0 with dual connection (multipoint), over 100m range in open space
  • AAC and SBC codecs, LC3 for Auracast
  • NFC tap to pair, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair
  • Direct audio over USB-C with under 60ms latency, great for laptops
  • Low latency mode for games or videos

There's also Stereo Mode to pair two identical units as left and right channels, and Party Mode using Auracast to sync with other compatible speakers, including some from other brands.

In the Nothing X app, you can pick EQ presets (Balanced, More Bass, More Treble, Voice) or build your own Custom EQ. There are also Adaptive Tuning, Ultra Bass, Wide Soundstage and Night Mode.

The physical knob does a lot: press to play or pause, double press for the next track, triple press for the previous one, hold for 2 seconds for Ultra Bass, and rotate for volume.

Price and Malaysia launch

Here are the official global prices as of 26 October 2026:

  • US: Speaker S US$59, Speaker M US$109 (currently on promo at US$49 and US$89)
  • UK: £49 and £99
  • Europe: €59 and €99
  • Singapore: SGD99 and SGD159 (pre-order)

For Malaysia, pricing and availability haven't been announced yet. Converting straight from the US and UK prices, local media estimate around RM241 to RM265 for the Speaker S and RM445 to RM535 for the Speaker M. Those are just conversions, not official prices.

The good and the not so good

The good:

  • IP68 on both models
  • Up to 18 hours of battery with fast charging
  • Bluetooth 6.0, multipoint and Auracast Party Mode
  • Unique design with swappable panels and knobs

The not so good:

  • The official specs don't list a mic, so don't expect speakerphone use
  • No hi-res codecs like LDAC or aptX
  • The listed box contents are just the speaker and a quick start guide, no cable or charger
  • The official specs don't list a 3.5mm AUX input, wired audio is USB-C only
  • The Speaker S is just 10W, not a big party speaker. Creative Bloq says a single unit can sound 'small', and outdoors the sound loses some focus

Where to buy CMF Speaker S and M

These speakers aren't officially sold in Malaysia yet. Previous CMF products like the Watch Pro 2 and Buds Pro 2 were sold through CMF's official Shopee and Lazada stores, so the Speaker S and M will likely show up there too.

You can follow the CMF by Nothing Shopee store here so you don't miss the launch. I'll update this article once the Malaysian price is out.

So, are you team Speaker S for the cute size or team Speaker M for the bigger sound? Which colour are you eyeing? 😄
