Looking for a budget phone for your parents, a younger sibling, or as a backup phone? Infinix just launched the Infinix SMART 20e in Malaysia on 8 October 2026, and it went on sale from 9 October. It now starts at RM499.
For under RM600, you get a 120Hz screen, IP64 and a speaker Infinix says is 200% louder. Worth it? Let's take a look.
Infinix SMART 20e price in Malaysia
There are two variants, both with 4GB of RAM:
- 4GB + 64GB: RM499
- 4GB + 128GB: RM549
When it was first announced, the prices were RM549 and RM599. Infinix then cut RM50 off both variants, and RM499 and RM549 are now the official prices.

A 120Hz screen that works with wet hands
The SMART 20e has a 6.75-inch HD+ IPS LCD (720 x 1576) with up to 120Hz refresh rate and up to 240Hz touch sampling. Brightness peaks at 700 nits, so it should be fine outdoors.
One feature I think is genuinely practical here: Rain-Responsive Touch. The screen still works when your fingers are wet or oily. Great for riders, or anyone who scrolls while eating nasi lemak. 馃槃
200% Boosted Volume speaker
Infinix really pushes this one. The speaker has 200% Boosted Volume for noisy places, like taking calls at the market, hearing navigation on a motorbike, or watching videos at the mamak. Just note it's a mono speaker, so it's loud, not stereo.
Built tough: IP64 and MIL-STD-810H testing
For a phone under RM600, this is one of the most interesting parts:
- IP64 rating for dust and splashes
- Reinforced frame that passed MIL-STD-810H shock testing, per Infinix
- Survives drops of up to 1.5 metres, based on Infinix's own lab testing
Pokde also called IP64 a decent deal in this price segment.

Infinix says Battery Self-Healing uses a low-intensity current to slow down battery wear from repeated charging and use. NFC isn't just for payments either. You can share with iPhones too through the Instant Transfer app.
Four colours to choose from
The Infinix SMART 20e comes in Deep Cherry, Hush Blue, Silver Dancer and Night Pulse. Deep Cherry stands out the most for me.

The good and the not so good
The good:
- 6.75-inch 120Hz, 700 nit screen that works with wet hands
- IP64 and MIL-STD-810H testing at RM499
- 200% Boosted Volume speaker (Infinix's claim) for noisy places
- NFC with Flash Sharing
- microSD up to 2TB and Android 16 out of the box
The not so good:
- RM100 more than the SMART 20, which launched at RM399 and RM449 in April
- Only 10W charging, slow for a 5,000mAh battery
- HD+ resolution, not Full HD
- Only 4GB of RAM, and the 64GB variant fills up fast
- Basic cameras, 8MP rear and 5MP front
- 4G only, no 5G
- Mono speaker, not stereo
So if you want a tough phone with a smooth screen and a loud speaker for daily use, the SMART 20e fits. But if you want faster charging or better cameras, you'll need to stretch your budget a bit.
